Lance Lemon

Actor, Entrepreneur & Specialist at Lee Enterprises Virginia

Creative Force & Cultural Connector

A Virginia native and University of Virginia alumnus, Lance Lemon has seamlessly blended his passions for acting and wine into a dynamic career that enriches Richmond's cultural landscape. After earning his degree in 2011, Lance pursued acting in New York City, securing roles in films like "Loving" (2016) independent films and local commercials.

  • While in New York, Lance's journey led him to the world of wine. He honed his expertise as a wine sales representative for Frederick Wildman and Sons and played a pivotal role in curating and managing two successful Brooklyn wine shops: Wine-O and Liquid Assets.

In 2019, Lance returned to Richmond to co-found RichWine, a boutique online wine retailer emphasizing clean-crafted, low-intervention, biodynamic, and organic wines that exceled during the pandemic.

Building on RichWine's success, Lance and his business partner, Kristen Gardner Beal, expanded their vision by opening Penny's Wine Shop in Jackson Ward in early 2023. Named in homage to St. Luke's Penny Savings Bank founded by Maggie L. Walker, Penny's serves as both a bottle shop and a communal gathering space, reflecting Lance's commitment to honoring Richmond's rich history while fostering community engagement.

Through his endeavors in both the arts and entrepreneurship, Lance continues to shape and contribute to Richmond's vibrant cultural and business communities and now as a part of Lee Enterprises Virginia home to Richmond Times Dispatch and the Virginia Video Network (VVN).
