Larenz Tate

Acclaimed Actor & Champion of Black Storytelling 

Chicago-born Larenz Tate landed on television screens in 1985 in the sci-fi series The Twilight Zone. From 2020 to 2024, Tate starred in Starz’s hit drama series Power Book II: Ghost

Always purpose-driven and with a legacy mindset, the Power star created TateMen Entertainment with his brothers LaRon and Lahmard, both of whom are actors. Collectively, TateMen develops projects across multiple genres, platforms, and entertainment mediums. 

  • TateMen Entertainment produced and launched Bronzeville, chronicling the lives of players in the lottery games while illuminating the self-sustainability of Bronzeville’s African American residents. The scripted podcast has more than 20 million downloads. 

    Over the years, Tate has remained steadfast in his desire to champion Black storytelling while serving as a vessel for aspiring filmmakers, writers, and directors. 

    On the big screen, Tate has starred in films such as Menace II Society and Dead Presidents. In 1997, Tate starred with Nia Long in the cult classic Love Jones, which became one of the most celebrated Black films of all time. Tate also starred in The Inkwell, Why Do Fools Fall In Love, A Man Apart, Waist Deep, Deuces, Ray, and Crash, the three-time Academy Award® winning film.  

    Tate’s television credits also include House of Lies, Rush, Rescue Me, and Game of Silence
