Majora Carter
Majora Carter is an award-winning economic revitalization strategist, speaker, and author. As a real estate developer, she has focused on demonstrating that residents shouldn’t have to move out of their neighborhood in order to live in a better one. During more than two decades of work, she has spearheaded new infrastructure and development models that revitalize communities by prioritizing talent retention and building mixed-use local economies.
Majora started by redeveloping a garbage dump into an award-winning park. Since then, she’s launched other award-winning projects in tech inclusion, broadcast and placemaking, such as the Boogie Down Grind, a hip hop-themed specialty coffee and craft beer spot, as well as renovating a historic rail station into an event hall. A MacArthur Fellow and Peabody Award winning radio broadcaster, she has presented twice on the TED Talk stage.
