Financial Literacy Pioneers & Culture-Shifting Educators

In 2018, life-long friends Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings partnered to start an educational platform called Earn Your Leisure (EYL).

EYL has since grown into one of the top media companies in the world, with a top business podcast under its umbrella podcast network, and an online educational platform. EYL provides behind-the-scenes financial views into the entertainment and sports industries, as well as highlighting the backstories of entrepreneurs in these spaces. It also breaks down business models and examines the latest trends in finance.

  • The Earn Your Leisure Network is a revolutionary offering which gives rise to emerging and established content creators from the world of business, finance, and entrepreneurship whose perspective, expertise, and in-depth insights havve been undervalued and overlooked. At its core, the ultimate purpose of the EYL Network is to build while climbing as a community, highlighting collaboration over competition.

Bilal and Millings also co-wrote You Deserve To Be Rich, a book that finished in the Top 5 on the New York Times Best Seller list.

Bilal grew up in the financial services industry, beginning as a summer intern in his family’s wealth management firm The Bilal Group, LLC in 2005 and becoming a full-time associate in May 2008, following his graduation from The University of Hawaii. He went on to become a full partner in 2014.

Millings was born in the South Bronx, home of hip hop. His early demonstrated facility in memorizing lyrics translated into memorizing historical facts, equations, and literary passages – which served him well as he pursued a career as an educator. Millings began teaching in the NYC Department of Education, transferring to the city school district of New Rochelle.

His experience in working as an Operations Crossroads summer program director with students at the secondary level of education revealed a need to expand financial literacy education outside of the traditional classroom setting. He and Bilal teamed up and Earn Your Leisure was launched.
